Tenebrae Responsoria de Joan Magrané

Temporada 23/24
The “Lessons of Darkness” (in French: Leçons de ténèbres) are a form of sacred music composed to accompany the rite that was carried out especially during the celebrations of Wednesday, Thursday and Good Friday. This rite, where texts were read commemorating the passion and death of Jesus Christ, was carried out during the evenings, thus always having an atmosphere – as its name indicates – very related to darkness and darkness. Joan Magrané has wanted to update this rite and, linking tradition and modernity, has written especially for this occasion “Tenebrae Responsoria” (Responsoris de Tenebres, in Catalan) inspired by the sung responses of these ceremonies, returning us to the solemn and introspective atmosphere that has always characterized them.
